Second Best is an Australian marketplace designed for parents to buy and sell second-hand school uniforms. By offering a simple, secure platform, we help families save on school costs while promoting sustainability. With face-to-face transactions and secure online payments, Second Best keeps it local and eco-friendly, reducing waste and supporting the community one uniform at a time.

If you want to buy or sell on Second Best you will need to sign up for an account. Setting up an account is free and only takes a few minutes. Once you sign up to use the platform, you can start uploading items to sell and buyers can browse or search for specific school uniforms to purchase.

How Selling Works

Curious about selling on Second Best? Here’s your guide to the ins and outs of listing and selling second-hand school uniforms.

Clothing should be freshly washed and ironed or dry-cleaned
Should have at least 12 months wear left for the next user
Garments should be ready to wear with hems, stitching and buttons in good repair
Please remember that small stains and repairs should be pointed out in the details box.
Please remove student’s name tags, and other award decorations (ribbons, embroidery etc.)

Listing Items for Sale

Here’s how to get started:

Tap “Sell your uniform.”
Provide a clear description, including category, school, condition, and size.
Set a fair price.
Upload up to three photos for each item.
Complete your listing by tapping “Post Listing.”

When you sell your item

After Meeting with the buyer to pass on your item, both you and the buyer need to confirm the purchase. You should confirm that the buyer has clicked on "I have received my order", and you should also click the green button "I Have delivered the order".

Commission – Second Best takes an 18% commission from each sale to help maintain and enhance our platform.

How Buying Works

Shopping on Second Best is simple and secure. Search listings for uniforms and accessories by using filters, for example school or category, or you can browse all listings. If you have a question about the item, you can get in touch with sellers from the item page.

Making a Purchase

Find What You Need – Search and locate items that fit your requirements.
Reach out to the seller – Once you have found an item you would like to purchase, you can reach out to the seller directly from the item page to ask any questions.
Pay Securely – Make payments via our secure payment platform, Stripe. Your payment is held until you’ve received the item. There is a 2% transaction fee on all purchases. This is also where you will arrange a safe meeting place with the seller and finalize your purchase in person.
In-Person Collection – All transactions on Second Best are completed in person, ensuring you can inspect the item before finalizing the exchange. Once you have received your item, simply click the green button, "I've received my order" to confirm.

No Shipping Required We keep things simple and local, so there’s no shipping on Second Best.
